Sareni Resort is located at the heart of Birie Island and located just behind Batanta Island (one of Raja Ampat biggest island), It’s about a 2 hour boat ride from the nearest Port at Sorong, West Papua. You can ask us to arrange transfer from airport to our location with additional rate of $460 for return (up to 3 pax).
That depends on your Nationality. Most nationalities have a “Free Tourist Visa”, meanwhile some others require a Visa to travel in Indonesia, a Visa-On-Arrival (VOA) is applicable. At present the VOA charge is USD 35.00 for applicants staying in the country for 30 days. Please check Indonesian embassy website or you can visit Indonesia consulate in your country to see if you qualify for a “Free
Tourist Visa”.
We only provide Basic First Aid services, If there is any serious or major health issue, we can provide transportation to the nearest Community Health Centre / Puskesmas.
We provide international/local breakfast, lunch, dinner and 1x afternoon snack. The menu of the day is fixed and non-selective, mostly fish, rice, eggs, vegetables, and fruits. Tea, coffee and mineral water are provided at our restaurant for free of charge. Please do contact us if you are allergic to any kind of food. Meals for 3 times a day are already included in our room rate.
Raja Ampat uses a tag system to support Marine Protected Areas and community projects. All visitors, divers or non-divers, are required to purchase a tag which is valid for one calendar year. The cost is IDR 1.000.000 (approx. USD 70) for foreign tourist. Children below 12 years are exempted from paying the fee.
There is some Malaria present in the Sorong region. The best protection against this is insect repellent and coils, mosquito nets (all provided at the resort), wear light colored clothing, cover up during evening and early morning. For further medical queries regarding travel to Raja Ampat, be sure to consult your doctor.
Our house reef is the perfect spot for snorkeling enthusiasts and can be explored by yourself free of charge. Snorkeling equipment is available for rent at Sareni per set per day at IDR 100,000. You can access snorkeling spots directly from your villa (water villa) or from our beach or from the pier/jetty..
We accept IDR Rupiah, US Dollars (only the latest series), and EURO; however, when bringing foreign currency to the area, please be advised that local banks accept only pristine condition banknotes – folded, tattered or older notes (issued before 2006) cannot be accepted by the resort or any local banks in Indonesia.
All rooms are fitted with 2 Round Pin Plug Sockets (European Standard) and the electricity is 220v. You need to bring your own Universal travel adapter. Sareni is equipped with 2 large generator. We have to decrease the usage of electricity at noon. This will cause a short outage of power and we choose to do this at time which will cause the least disturbance to our guests, which is usually when you are out for activities so that you won’t even notice it has happened.
There is no wi-fi connection but there is internet or phone connection at Sareni provided by Telkomsel. Bear in mind, the connection may not be very stable. We do suggest you to enjoy and relax at Sareni.
Casual beach wear is best for the day – T-shirts, loose lightweight long or short sleeve shirts and lightweight shorts or pants. For the evening, a lightweight sweatshirt, sarong, hat and sandals are ideal; comfortable walking or hiking shoes are also recommended.
There is a shower, western toilet, and bathroom sink. There is no hot water and the water is fresh.
Good season starts in October and ends in June. July to September the sea is not calm and the visibility is quite low.
